Not all parents attach importance to the unrequited love of their growing child. This experience often traumatizes the psyche of a teenager and can lead to unpleasant consequences, such as depression and poor school performance. Without the help and understanding of loved ones, it will be difficult for the child to forget the object of his adoration.

How to find out about the unrequited love of a teenager?

The first serious love starts already in high school. At the age of 16-17, teenagers are already familiar with this condition. For some, this period passes without negative factors and only with the extraction of experience, while someone, on the contrary, acquires psychological problems. In difficult adolescence, parents can easily lose contact with their child.

A teenager experiencing unrequited love will accept the help of his parents only when a warm and trusting relationship is established in the family.

If a child cannot tell his father and mother about the unpleasant consequences of a love relationship, he will share his experiences with friends or become isolated in himself.

If the trust in the family is lost, then you will need to return it and learn to appreciate the identity of the son or daughter. Then fear will disappear in the teenager, he will be able to open up to his parents and tell about his unrequited love. But not in all cases it turns out to achieve harmony.

If the child is silent about the problem, it can be identified by the following signs:
• depression;
• deterioration in concentration and academic performance;
• decreased appetite;
• lack of passion for favorite things.

How to help a teenager cope with unrequited love?

Communication with a teenager should take place in a calm environment without ridicule and devaluing his unrequited feelings. It must be remembered that for a fragile personality, first love takes on great importance.

Parents can share their experience: how they fell in love without a response and how they realized that it was not worth the worry. It is important to focus on what helped to distract and start a new life after unrequited love.

Employment and creative activity will help heal a mental wound. If a teenager will participate in various school activities, engage in a new sport, meet other children, he will not have time and desire to remember the traumatic love experience.

You can also use travel to solve the problem. A change of scenery will positively affect the emotional background of a teenager, reduce anxiety. Returning home, he may not even remember the reason for his apathy.
