Border Guard Day
Every year on May 28, staff officers, as well as veterans of the border troops of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, traditionally celebrate the most significant day of the year - the professional holiday Border Guard Day. In the Soviet Union, the celebration of this day, which was timed to coincide with the establishment in 1918 of the Border Guard of the RSFSR border, began on May 28, 1958. Then, in 1918, the Main Directorate of Border Guard was organized.
Border guards-sailors protect the sea border, border guards-pilots - by air, border guards also carry out their service at coastal outposts. Representatives of this profession follow a very difficult and dangerous path through life and at the same time cause great respect for themselves. In fact, the celebration of Border Guard Day is hundreds of years old when the first centralized border outposts arose. So, in Russia from the onslaught of the enemy and in order to protect its borders, defensive structures were used that were erected along the borders of Russian territory. And to look after the outpost, a special guard was created.

On May 28, the Orthodox world honors the memory of St. Pachomius the Great, who was once an Egyptian monk. As a young pagan, Pachomius entered the service of Emperor Constantine. Once, on a regular campaign, the Pachomius unit stumbled upon a peasant settlement. Then few people knew about the Christian religion. One of the elders told Pachomius about Christian teaching, and he believed so strongly in one Father God that at the end of the war he was baptized, and soon at the initiative of Pachomius a communal monastery was erected.
In Russia, Pakhomia was nicknamed Pakhom Bokogrey (or Teply), since summer was steadily approaching, and real heat was setting in the streets, frosts finally finally vanished. The old people, relying on the belief that has existed for hundreds of years, have composed many sayings and sayings about this. “Came in Groin - it was warm,” was the most common expression among the people.
On this day, the peasants sowed the remaining wheat: "Bokogrey came - sow the wheat sooner," they said in unison, calling each other to work. However, people tried to help each other so that the work went faster and more fun. But planting other vegetation today was not recommended. It was believed that any seedlings planted on Pakhoma simply disappear or heat burns them. People looked at some signs: for example, if a crimson veil shrouded the sun in the morning, then they expected formidable fires in the summer.

In the course of numerous experiments, one of the cooks prepared the sauce, which turned out to be extremely tasty and immediately fell in love with the French military. And the original name was given to him sauce "Maon" - in honor of the French town. Subsequently, the whole of Europe found out about him, and later the whole world. Today, mayonnaise is an integral part of almost any cuisine in the world.
May 28, 1812 - The signing of the Bucharest Peace Treaty, which ended the Russo-Turkish War (1806 - 1812).
The signing of the Bucharest peace treaty was preceded by negotiations initiated at the initiative of the great vizier, which began after the defeat by the Russian army (under the command of Kutuzov) of the sixty thousandth Turkish army in the Slobodzeya area on the left bank of the Danube. The negotiations were led by Kutuzov himself. The Bucharest Peace Treaty included sixteen vowels and two secret points. Amnesty International is an independent non-political organization that advocates for the rights of every person, regardless of their place of residence, race, ideology and religion.
