Badan is an evergreen perennial plant of the Saxifragidae family that grows in the natural environment on rocky terrain or in mountain gorges.

This plant has a well-developed root system, large with a glossy or matte sheen dark green leaves, numerous flowers similar to bells collected in shield-shaped inflorescences (about 2 cm in diameter each) of various colors.

A plant with its healing properties is widely used in folk medicine and cosmetology, especially as a healing and anti-inflammatory agent.

The incense is grown, both in the garden and on the windowsill at home. It blooms throughout the last month of spring, capturing the first decade of summer. In the autumn period, the foliage of this plant begins to accumulate nutrients for the winter, while changing its color to a bronze or brown color, which persists until spring.

Badan and features of its cultivation

Badan is a resident of Altai, Siberia and the Far East is considered quite unpretentious plant, resistant to cold and other adverse conditions. But still there are certain nuances and features of its cultivation:

• You can grow a bud in any light - in the sun, in shady places, it doesn't matter, with the only difference being that in fairly bright daylight, the plant blooms well, but does not grow very well.

• The height of some species of this plant can reach half a meter.

• This plant feels quite comfortable even on scanty, poor soil. In this connection, the developed garden land of low fertility will be the best option for growing and growing this flower.

• This flower needs drainage, as it does not tolerate waterlogging of the soil. Abundantly water the plant is recommended only during the formation of buds.

• Badan can grow for a long time in the same place. If this plant is often transplanted, its appearance deteriorates and changes for the worse.

Badan planting and care of the plant in the open ground

Badan, planting and care, which is carried out by gardeners, according to existing rules, grows a strong and beautiful plant.

Planting a plant

Before embarking on the planting of this plant, it is necessary to select the area, picking up the soil not with clay and rocky soil, but with soddy soil or earth diluted with sand, gravel, without stagnation of water and excessive vegetation.

The right time for planting Badan is spring or the end of the summer season. During this period, it is necessary to prepare the soil for planting the plant - to improve its composition if necessary, destroy weeds, and loosen it.

After you need to dig a hole (up to 35 cm) and place the plant in it, sprinkled on top of the ground.

Important! Plant the plant with great care, in order to avoid damage to the root system.

It is also possible to pre-fill the prepared hole for planting Badan with water and placing the rhizome of the plant in it, fill it with a layer of soil on top. And then, tamp the soil with sawdust and peat added to it.

When planting a plant in the latter way, Badan will need watering only after 5-6 days.

Plant care

Caring for badan is not burdensome, but for normal growth and development, the plant still needs it:

• Badan needs regular and plentiful watering, but without further stagnation of water, in connection with which the soil must be loose and have time to dry out. It is best to water once a week.

• The plant is very fond of carrying out the necessary nutrition for it. Before flowering, the application of mineral fertilizers, and after half a month, repeated feeding to activate the process of emergence of new and aging existing leaves, which during this period begin to change their color.

• The soil where the incense grows must be mulched - with peat, humus 2 - 3 times per season.

• It is also necessary to control weeds and thin out plantings in time.

In the natural environment Badan grows in places where in winter the temperature reaches - up to 40 degrees, and the summer is saturated with sharp thaws. In this regard, to prevent damage to the leaves and root system with the advent of frost, it is better to cover the plant with special material, thereby protecting it from winter winds, and in summer from sunburn.

Badan and its reproduction

Badan is propagated both by the seed method and by dividing the bush:

  • For propagation by seed method, it is necessary that the planting material is large and famous for its germination. The soil should have the following composition:

• Peat.

• River sand.

• Crushed stone.

Also, for germinating seeds, you can use a substrate intended for indoor plants. Having fallen asleep with a soil mixture, a pot, a container or simply a wooden box, then, it is necessary to shed the soil in the tank with water at room temperature. And then after 2 centimeter intervals from each other, make holes (1-2 cm deep) by placing seeds in them. Then they need to be sprinkled with the existing mixture and placed in a container and a sufficiently bright and warm place. The temperature of the room where the incense seeds germinate should be about 20-22 degrees. The seeds of incense sprout for a long time, about a crescent and more. But, after it begins to develop rapidly and intensively, growing in a few days to 10-12 centimeters. In late spring, the plant can already be safely planted in open ground.

  • In just a couple of years, a small bush of incense can grow in the garden and occupy the entire flower bed. This is due to the intensive growth of the rhizome of the plant, which after wintering begins to throw out its processes. By carefully digging the incense at the base, new processes of the rhizome can be cut off by planting them in other places of the infield. In order not to harm the maternal root, it is more expedient to divide the processes in the spring, then by summer the incense will bloom abundantly and look quite a lush flower.

Important! Badan begins to bloom in two years not earlier.

Open field incense

Before transferring seedlings of incense to open ground, it is necessary to fertilize the soil well. For this, compost, ash, and manure are applicable. After that, you can form ridges. But it is more expedient to plant flowers in the open ground no earlier than a week later, already in the prepared loosened soil.

The place for planting a canoe should be picked up sufficiently lit, not far from water.

In early spring, this plant must be pruned to remove unwanted overgrown shoots.

And for the duration and quality of flowering, it is recommended to cut off all the lower leaves of the plant, which can then be perfectly used in cooking or in traditional medicine.

At the first wintering of the incense in the open ground, it is more advisable to cover young shoots in the fall with fallen leaves, then the root system will not freeze for sure and after the snow has melted, the plant will again begin to delight its amateur grower with lush foliage greenery, and later on with lush flowering.
