Apples "Glory to the winners" - a variety tested over the years. It bears fruit well in various regions of the country, needs minimal care, for which it has gained its popularity.

The history of the variety and the main characteristics of the apple "Glory to the winners"

The variety was bred as a result of breeding "Papirovki" and "Mackintosh" in 1928 in Ukraine at the L. Simirenko station. Already in 1954 it was grown throughout the USSR.

By maturity, the variety belongs to the middle autumn. Harvested when the summer apples have already departed, and the latter have not yet poured. In different regions, the timing depends on the climate. On average, the fruits ripen from mid-August to mid-September.

The apple tree is characterized by high winter hardiness and drought tolerance, tolerates temperature extremes. Productivity is high and stable, wavy periods are not observed.

The first fruits are harvested 4-5 years after planting. In the northern regions a little later, but in the south you can enjoy juicy apples in 2-3 years. In general, the variety is considered early.

In the early years of fruiting, yields are above average, but with the age of the tree decreases slightly. However, for the farm it is not so noticeable. With good care, the apple tree gives a decent harvest. It is possible to collect up to 20 kg of fruit from a young tree, and an adult is able to produce up to 70 kg. Moreover, in the South, these figures are higher than in the northern regions.

Wood Appearance and Description

Strong-growing tree with a spreading crown. Over the years, the crown acquires an oval or round shape. The lower branches are located at an acute angle to the trunk, and the upper ones grow to the sides. The bark of the tree is characteristic brown. Young shoots of red-brown color, shiny.

The leaves are small, pointed, slightly pubescent, light green with visible yellowness. The flowers are pink, fragrant. At a young age, the tree is abundantly covered with flowers. But the fruits are not tied to all of them.

It should be borne in mind that the grade "Glory to the winners" refers to self-infertile varieties of apple trees. For high-quality pollination and fruit formation varieties of pollinators will be required. They can be located on an adjacent site, but no further than 50 m. In addition, the timing of flowering crops must match. This feature is important to consider when planting a seedling.

The best varieties of pollinators for apple trees:

· "Priam";

· "Antonovka";

· "Melba";

· "Borovinka".

According to gardeners, the joint planting of seedlings gives good results.

Description and characteristics of apples "Glory to the winners" with a photo, the purpose of the variety

The ripe fruits are juicy, large or medium in size, with smooth skin. The average weight of one apple ranges from 120 to 200 grams. The color of apples is yellow-green with a characteristic blush. Fruits from the lower branches are less colored, and on the tops are the most rosy. This is due to the thickening of the crown. For uniform coloring of apples, it is necessary to thin out the crown, so that the sun's rays came to all the fruits.

The pulp is fragrant, of delicate texture, medium-grained, sweet and sour. The taste of the fruit does not change during ripening. Ripe fruits do not last long on the tree, so they need to be removed in a timely manner. Seeds will help determine the ripeness of apples. In a ripened fetus, they rattle when shaken. In addition, ripe apples are covered with a bluish coating.

The crop tolerates transportation well, but is poorly kept fresh. After harvesting, the fruits are allowed for processing. They make good jams, compotes, juices, and drying.

Advantages of the variety and disadvantages of apples "Glory to the winners"

The indisputable advantage of the culture is its hardiness, high yields and good taste of the fruit.

Among the shortcomings are:

Self-infertility;

Tendency to shed fruit;

· Thickening of the crown.

However, these disadvantages are easily fixed. It is enough to make a little effort and take good care of the tree.

Features of growing apples "Glory to the winners" in various regions: the proper planting of varieties and top dressing

The variety behaves differently in different climatic conditions. Not only the fruit ripening and storage periods differ, but also the planting of seedlings.

The variety is suitable for cultivation in the north of the country and in the southern regions. But yields will be different. Due to low temperatures, cold summers and soil composition, apple growing in the Northwest has its own characteristics.

For planting, grafted two-year-old seedlings are acquired, they take root better and enter fruiting earlier. The appearance of the plant should not cause concern. The height of the seedling does not exceed 1.5 m, the root system is well developed, and the vaccination site is dry. Pay special attention to skeletal branches, they should be located evenly throughout the seedling.

Planting a seedling

Planting dates depend on the climate, you can plant a tree in early spring or late autumn. Before planting, prepare the soil. The top layer of the earth is removed, mixed with fertilizers, humus and loosening materials. A pit is prepared for the size of a seedling, as a rule, 70x70 cm.

Landing is carried out as follows:

1. The bottom of the pit is well drained, pour fertile soil, drive a peg to garter the stem.

2. The roots spread on the surface of the soil, fall asleep with nutrient soil, well compact the earth around.

3. The seedling is abundantly watered and tied to a support.

Depth of landing is maintained, i.e. the root neck and the grafting site are not deepened, but left on the soil surface to a height of 5 cm. If several trees are planted, then at least 4 m is left between them.

In the first year, seedlings are abundantly watered, preventing the soil from drying out. But do not fertilize. Top dressing begins in the spring of the second year.

How to feed

In April of the following year, a trench is made around the perimeter of the crown, covered with mineral granular fertilizers, and covered with it. Introduce mainly nitrogen mixtures:

Urea

· Ammonium nitrate;

Nitrofosku.

Top dressing acts for a long time, slowly dissolves and nourishes the roots. The second time the apple tree is fed before flowering. At this stage, potash fertilizers or organics are added. After the formation of the ovaries and in the stage of pouring the fruits, green fertilizer, infusions of fermented grass are used. After harvesting, the tree should regain strength, therefore, in the fall, phosphorus-potassium fertilizing is applied.

The correct pruning of the variety and the formation of the crown of the apple tree "Glory to the winners"

The variety is characterized by growth rate and a tendency to thicken the crown. Without additional procedures, the tree quickly loses attractiveness, the quality of the crop decreases, and diseases arise.

Thinning the crown needs to be done regularly, every spring and autumn. Try to cut out all the thickening shoots, the old sprouted branches.

Remember that this type of apple tree bears fruit on spears, gloves and fruit twigs. Therefore, they try to save them.
