Nikita Gusyatnik
Saint Nikita of Gotha is revered in the Orthodox Church as a great martyr from the 4th century AD. He preached Christianity, exposing the rulers of the Gentiles. He was seized and subjected to cruel torture, but the saint did not give up his faith, and after the verdict of burning, a miracle happened - the fire did not scorch the human skin. The relics of the saint were later transferred to Constantinople. A lot of folk signs are connected with this day, but the main thing is that on this day the geese that grew over the summer began to be slaughtered, therefore Nikita was nicknamed Gusyatnik.
Baked goose becomes the main course of the day. Interestingly, the best goose was given to the water goose - he must count the geese and protect them on the water.
